Year: 2012-17
Overview: This was an extensive contractual project that ADCM undertook over a period of 5 years for Maxis in Malaysia. The project involved the benchmarking all the local cellular operators across 2G, 3G and Wimax, for voice and data at the latest technologies available at the time e.g. GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA+, etc. The same tests were conducted for operators in Hong Kong, Australia and Singapore for comparison of Maxis’ performance against these leading regional operators. ADCM measured a very broad range of metrics from signal strength, call drops, call quality (Rxqual and MOS), availability, latency, throughput, packet data quality (ping/jitter), etc. Of importance, ADCM measured voice for both mobile to mobile as well as for mobile to fixed line and reported them separately to project realistic usage patterns. In addition, ADCM also analysed Maxis’ performance and provided in-depth fault analysis and recommendations for improvements. In the process of these analyses, we uncovered problems that were not known to Maxis at the time and provided valuable feedback for Maxis to improve their network and customer experience.
